Rinse Aid Dispensing System Fault
The F52 error code means your Miele dishwasher has detected a problem with the rinse aid dispensing mechanism. The control board expects the dispenser to release rinse aid during the final rinse phase — when it detects the mechanism has not activated correctly, F52 is triggered.

Answer to continue safely
Is it safe to keep using?
Yes. F52 does not affect the washing or sanitizing function. Your dishes will still be cleaned — they may just have water spots and take longer to dry. It is safe to continue using the machine while troubleshooting.
Can I reset the code?
Yes. Yes. Refill the rinse aid and reset at mains for 5 minutes. If the dispenser mechanism is working, the code will clear.
When to stop immediately?
Stop if you notice: The dispenser is leaking rinse aid into the tub prematurely, You hear a clicking from the dispenser but it does not open.
Symptoms You May Notice
Water spots on glasses
Dishes and glassware come out with visible water marks and streaks — the classic sign of missing rinse aid
Wet dishes after drying
Without rinse aid, water does not sheet off dishes properly, leaving them damp
Rinse aid indicator light stays on
The refill indicator remains active even if the reservoir is full
F52 may appear intermittently
The code may show on some cycles but not others, depending on whether the dispenser manages to release partially
Possible Causes
Empty or Low Rinse Aid Reservoir
The simplest cause — the rinse aid has run out or is below the minimum level.
DIY PossibleClogged Dispenser Nozzle
Dried rinse aid residue or detergent has blocked the dispenser opening, preventing release.
DIY PossibleFaulty Dispenser Solenoid
The electromagnetic valve that opens the dispenser has failed — it does not receive or respond to the activation signal.
Requires ProfessionalDamaged Dispenser Lid or Seal
The dispenser lid does not open properly during the cycle, or its seal has deteriorated, causing rinse aid to leak out prematurely.
Requires ProfessionalWiring Issue to Dispenser
A loose connector or damaged wire between the control board and the dispenser unit interrupts the activation signal.
Requires ProfessionalSafe Checks You Can Do
-
1
Refill the Rinse Aid
Open the rinse aid compartment (usually next to the detergent dispenser). Fill it to the MAX line with Miele rinse aid or a compatible product.
Do not overfill — excess rinse aid can cause excessive foam and residue.
-
2
Clean the Dispenser
Wipe the dispenser opening and lid with a damp cloth. Check for dried residue blocking the nozzle. Run warm water through the opening to clear any blockage.
A cotton swab works well to clean inside the nozzle area.
-
3
Check the Dispenser Lid
Open and close the dispenser lid manually. It should click shut firmly and spring open freely. Check the hinge and latch for cracks or debris.
If the lid sticks, a tiny drop of cooking oil on the hinge can help.
-
4
Adjust the Dosage Setting
Miele dishwashers have an adjustable rinse aid dosage (usually 1–6). Check your settings — if set to 1, try increasing to 3–4 to ensure adequate dispensing.
Your user manual shows how to adjust this setting for your specific model.
-
5
Power Reset
Turn off at mains for 5 minutes. The dispenser control logic may need to reinitialize, especially after a refill.
After the reset, run a full cycle and check if dishes come out spot-free.
