Answer to continue safely

Is it safe to keep using?

No. Do not continue cooking with FE 47. Without cooling, the power electronics can overheat and suffer permanent damage.

Can I reset the code?

Yes. Yes — clear the obstruction, let the cooktop cool down, then power cycle. If the fan spins freely, the code should clear.

When to stop immediately?

Stop if you notice: FE 47/48 returns after clearing obstructions, Fan does not spin even with all obstructions removed.

Safe Checks You Can Do

These checks are safe for homeowners. No disassembly required. Do not remove panels or access internal components.
  1. 1

    Check the cabinet below

Open the cabinet under the cooktop. Remove any items — baking trays, pans, paper — that may be blocking the ventilation openings.

Miele requires at least 20mm clearance around ventilation openings beneath the cooktop.

  2. 2

    Clean ventilation openings

Vacuum dust from the air intake grilles on the underside of the cooktop.

Use a soft brush attachment to avoid damaging components.

    Tools required
  3. 3

    Power cycle and test

Turn off at breaker for 2 minutes. Turn back on and cook at medium heat for 5 minutes. Listen for the fan.

If you hear the fan running, the blockage was the issue.
