Miele Built-In Coffee Machine Steam Spout Burn Risk — CVA 6000 Series

Safety Notice Summary

Miele issued a safety notice for certain CVA 6000 series built-in coffee machines. The issue involves the steam dispensing nozzle, which in rare cases may release a burst of steam during the automatic cleaning cycle. This can cause a burn risk if the user is in close proximity to the steam spout while the cleaning cycle is active.

Affected Models

The safety notice covers the following CVA 6000 series built-in coffee machines:

  • CVA 6401 (built-in coffee machine, clean steel finish)
  • CVA 6405 (built-in coffee machine, obsidian black)
  • CVA 6800 (built-in coffee machine with bean-to-cup system)
  • CVA 6805 (built-in coffee machine, PureLine design)

Units manufactured between 2017 and mid-2019 are affected. The serial number and model details are on the rating plate visible when the appliance door is open.

Hazard

During the automatic cleaning or descaling cycle, a valve in the steam dispensing system may fail to close fully, allowing residual steam pressure to discharge through the spout. This can result in an unexpected burst of hot steam from the dispensing area, posing a scald or burn risk to anyone nearby.

Miele received a small number of reports related to this issue. Minor burn injuries were reported in isolated cases.

What to Do

  1. Do not stand directly in front of the steam dispensing spout during cleaning or descaling cycles.
  2. Contact Miele customer support at 1-800-999-1360 to schedule a free repair.
  3. A Miele technician will replace the steam valve assembly at no charge.
  4. The repair takes approximately 45–60 minutes for built-in models.

Continue to use the coffee machine for normal beverage preparation — the issue occurs only during the automated cleaning cycle. As a precaution, keep a clear distance from the spout area when any cleaning program is running until the repair has been completed.
