Miele Dishwasher — Water Inlet Hose Inspection Notice

Advisory Summary

Miele recommends that all dishwasher owners periodically inspect the water inlet hose (Aquastop hose) for signs of wear, kinking, or damage. While Miele dishwashers are equipped with the Waterproof System (WPS) to detect and stop leaks, a degraded inlet hose can fail suddenly and cause significant water damage before the protection system activates — particularly if the dishwasher runs unattended overnight or while the household is away.

Affected Models

This notice applies to all Miele dishwashers with a single water inlet hose:

  • G 5000 series (G 5006, G 5050, G 5210, G 5260, G 5310)
  • G 7000 series (G 7100, G 7310, G 7360, G 7460, G 7566, G 7966)
  • Classic series (G 1222, G 1232, G 4203, G 4210, G 4220, G 4225)
  • Professional models (PG 8056, PG 8059, PG 8061, PG 8583)

Inspection Checklist

Perform this inspection every 6 months, or immediately after any installation or maintenance work:

  • Pull the dishwasher forward enough to access the rear panel and water connections. Turn off the water supply before inspecting.
  • Check the inlet hose for cracks, bulging, discoloration, or soft spots — any of these indicate the hose should be replaced immediately.
  • Verify that the hose is not kinked or crushed by the dishwasher body, adjacent cabinetry, or other appliances.
  • Confirm the hose connection at the tap is hand-tight and shows no signs of dripping or mineral deposit buildup at the fitting.
  • If your Miele dishwasher is more than 10 years old, consider replacing the inlet hose proactively regardless of visible condition. Rubber compounds degrade over time even without visible wear.

Miele Waterproof System (WPS)

All current Miele dishwashers feature the Waterproof System, which uses a double-walled inlet hose and a floor-mounted float switch to detect leaks. If a leak is detected, the water supply is shut off automatically and the machine drains. However, WPS is a last-resort safety measure — it cannot prevent damage from a sudden hose rupture that overwhelms the sensor response time.

For best protection, never run the dishwasher while away from home for extended periods, and always turn off the water supply tap when the dishwasher is not in use.
