Answer to continue safely

Is it safe to keep using?

No. An overflow condition is a flooding risk. Do not use the machine until the cause is identified and resolved. Keep the water tap closed when not actively testing.

Can I reset the code?

Yes. Yes — but only after addressing the cause. Turn off mains for 10 minutes and close the water tap. Open the tap and power on to test. If F09 returns, the inlet valve or sensor has failed.

When to stop immediately?

Stop if you notice: Water is actively flooding the floor, The inlet valve does not shut off even with the machine powered down.

Symptoms You May Notice

Machine stops and drains immediately

The cycle halts and the pump runs continuously to evacuate excess water

Water visible on the floor

Excess water may have escaped through the door seal or overflowed from the detergent drawer

F09 appears suddenly

The code triggers abruptly, often during or just after the fill phase

Drain pump runs non-stop

The pump continues running as the machine tries to bring the water level down

Possible Causes

1

Faulty Inlet Valve (Stuck Open)

The solenoid inlet valve did not close after the fill phase, allowing water to keep entering.

Requires Professional
2

Pressure Switch Fault

The water level sensor failed to signal the board that the correct level was reached, so filling continued.

Requires Professional
3

Blocked Pressure Chamber

The air tube from the drum to the pressure switch is blocked, preventing accurate level readings.

DIY Possible
4

Excessive Suds

Too much detergent or wrong detergent type created excessive foam, which the sensor reads as a high water level.

5

Drain Hose Below Drum Level

If the drain hose is too low, water siphons back from the drain into the drum.

Safe Checks You Can Do

These checks are safe for homeowners. No disassembly required. Do not remove panels or access internal components.
  1. 1

    Turn Off Water Supply

Immediately close the water tap feeding the machine. This stops any further water entering.

Do this first before anything else.

  2. 2

    Power Off and Mop Up

Turn off at mains. Mop up any water on the floor. Check the base of the machine for water.

Place towels around the machine base.

  3. 3

    Check Detergent Amount

Are you using the correct amount and type of detergent? HE (high-efficiency) detergent is required. Too much creates excessive suds.

Use only HE detergent and follow the dosage guide — more is not better.

  4. 4

    Check Drain Hose Height

The drain hose must rise at least 60 cm above floor level before descending to the drain. If it drops straight down, water can siphon back.

Use the hose hook to secure it at the correct height.

  5. 5

    Power Reset and Test

After resolving the suspected cause, turn water back on, power on, and run a short cycle. Watch the fill phase — the machine should stop filling when the drum is about 1/3 full.

If filling does not stop at the correct level, the inlet valve or pressure switch has failed.
